Identifying Todays High

In the modern world, there are many jobs and occupations that have become high-demand jobs. This does not solely exist within the sphere of high paid positions, although some of these are included. This list is endless, but the following is an example of jobs which can be considered to be high-demand, together with my personal reasons for them. Emotionally and mentally demanding Medical Accident and Emergency teams People who work in this environment are always under stress. This comes primarily from the fact that often they have to make split second decisions and, on the basis of these decisions, the result could be life or death. To lose in any work environment is stressful, but when that one on one loss is a human life, then it becomes even more demanding. Air traffic controllers Each blip on their machines represents over 100 lives. If they make a wrong decision, all of those life. Anti-terrorist squads In these occupations there is pressure from two fronts, as has recently been seen in the UK. Firstly, it is their task to anticipate, discover and stop lethal terrorist activity, which is not easy as the world has found to its cost more than once. Secondly, if they have a suspect in mind, they have to make decisions as to whether the person is a terrorist and, if so, do they stop them at all costs, secondly they have to deal with the guilt and press blame if they make the wrong decision. Help groups, such as the Samaritans To be able to deal with another persons agony, which will often lead to suicidal tendencies, is a very difficult job. Not only is there the problem of trying to keep an objective whilst caring viewpoint, so that others concerns doe not depress the helper, there is the problem of knowing the right thing to say and when to say it. In addition sometimes there is a choice to make as to whether the threat the caller is making against themselves is one that they will carry out. Armed forces in action Going into a combat situation is asking a lot of any individual. The knowledge that, possibly one will not come back, or possibly not in one piece, is a heavy fear to carry when one is in a difficult environment. Medical Scientists People who develop drugs are always expected to produce miracle cures for a variety of fatal or life improving drugs. So high is the demand that it is difficult for them to keep the balance between ensuring that any remedy not only performs the cure that it is needed for, but also that it does not create other, equally dangerous side effects. Company Directors of Multinationals In a different way these are high demand positions. These people have to constantly look to produce shareholder value, often in the face of stiff competition, but they also have to ensure that they continue to give a duty of skill and care to a range of other stakeholders at the same time. For example, they must remain within the legal framework set out in a variety of countries, sometimes conflicting. They must ensure the safety of their works and their product and/or actions within the public environment, both with regard to the individuals and the possible ecological potential damage. Politicians It really does not matter what a politician does, they can never please the masses. There will always be a section of the community that will disagree vehermently with his/her views. Pressure from the press is enormous too, with them always digging for the minutest whiff of scandal to blaze across front pages, possibly destroying someones life. The constant pressure, attention and defending of ones policies is very demanding. These are just eight of the most high demand jobs.
